Butterfly Valves

The butterfly valve owes its name to the flow shutter which is built on the same principle as a carburetor butterfly (gas and choke).

A vertical disk of the inside diameter of the pipe is articulated around an axis which crosses it vertically from its zenith to its nadir and not perpendicular to its plane. The rotary axis is actuated by an external lever generally quarter turn.
